My Top 5 Bucket List Travel Destinations

Traveling has always been my dream; wanderlust is in my blood! I want to see so many places but there are a few destinations that stand out above the rest. Each of these places offers unique experiences, stunning sights, and a chance to immerse myself in vibrant cultures. Here are my top 5 bucket list travel destinations:

  1. Czechia (Czech Republic)

Czechia, with its rich history and fairy-tale charm, tops my list. Years ago, I started the process of researching my family tree and my mom told me that my roots can be traced back to Bohemia (modern day Czechia) ever since then I have felt an indescribable pull to explore that part of my history. The capital city, Prague, is renowned for its stunning architecture, vibrant cultural scene, and historical landmarks like the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. I cannot wait to stroll through the cobblestone streets of Old Town, explore the medieval towns like Český Krumlov, and enjoy the serene beauty of the Bohemian countryside.

  1. Greece

Before we settled on a more cost-effective option my late husband and I talked about eloping in Greece. In hindsight, I am glad we didn’t, because when I do finally get to go to Greece, I want to take my time and soak it all in! Greece is a paradise for history lovers and beach enthusiasts alike. The ancient ruins of Athens, including the iconic Acropolis, offer a glimpse into the cradle of Western civilization. The picturesque islands of Santorini and Mykonos, with their white-washed buildings and crystal-clear waters, promise the perfect picturesque getaway. I look forward to indulging in delicious Greek cuisine, visiting historic sites, and exploring as many of the islands as I can!

  1. Denmark

Did you know, the UN World Happiness Report ranked Denmark the world’s second happiest country for a sixth consecutive year? Denmark, known for its blend of modern design and rich history, is a must-visit. Copenhagen, the capital, is famous for its colorful Nyhavn harbor, the enchanting Tivoli Gardens, and the royal palaces. The Danish concept of “hygge” (coziness) is something I have researched and am eager to experience. Plus, exploring the scenic countryside and charming towns like Aarhus and Odense (home of Hans Christian Anderson) sounds absolutely dreamy!

  1. India

India has been on my list for longer than I can remember! I remember telling my mom as a kid, that I wanted to travel to India and she could not understand why! There is just something about India, with its diverse cultures, vibrant traditions, and breathtaking landscapes that calls to me! From the bustling streets of Delhi to the serene backwaters of Kerala, India offers an array of experiences. I am particularly excited to visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, explore the palaces of Rajasthan, savor the diverse and flavorful Indian cuisine and shop for a sari.

  1. Austria

Austria, with its stunning alpine scenery and rich musical heritage, is a more recent addition to my list. In researching my roots on Ancestry, I found that I have a great Grandfather who was born in Austria. With the great excuse of researching roots who wouldn’t want to check out Austria? Vienna, the capital, is known for its classical music, magnificent palaces, and vibrant café culture. Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, offers a charming old town and beautiful baroque architecture. I cannot wait to explore the scenic beauty of the Austrian Alps, visit the picturesque town of Hallstatt, and indulge in delicious Austrian pastries!

Each of these destinations have special meaning to me and offer something unique. Whether it’s a fascinating culture to explore or the chance to research my roots, I can’t wait to explore them all. From the historical wonders of Greece and India to the fairy-tale charm of Czechia, the modern and cozy atmosphere of Denmark, and the musical and scenic beauty of Austria, my travel bucket list is filled with dreams of adventure and discovery.
